Meet the Mind’s Behind Mindable – Alex, Senior Marketing Strategist

December 19, 2017

Here at Mindable, we have a pretty kick-ass team, with a diverse background in experience, company cultures, and general lifestyles. We have the pleasure of having a 15 person in-house team that we get to not only work with but connect with on a personal level. Everyone in the office has fun quirks and brings something different to the Mindable table.

So we thought – our readers should learn more about our bad ass staff! So here it is, a new series – Meet the Minds Behind Mindable and first up is Alexandria Smith. Before we get to Alex’s interview, let me give you some insight into Alex. She is a force to be reckoned with and never takes no for an answer. She is always pushing the team to think outside the box and search for a creative solution. Not only is she a boss babe but she is also wise beyond her years and constantly takes the time to lend an ear to other co-workers who need advice.

Without further adieu ….

What is your role @ Mindable & what does it entail?

I am a Digital Marketing Specialist. Every day is different for me but my role generally includes using Direct Response Marketing techniques to brainstorm, build, launch, analyze, and optimize Sales Funnels, while working with a team of in-house and off-site staff including, programmers/designers.

In addition, I work closely with copywriters on the creation of content and sales copy for lead generation, landing pages, sales pages, VSLs, email campaigns, Facebook and Google advertising, and social media content. Also, data is very important in this role and I analyze KPIs such as, page to page conversion statics, email open rates and click rates, as well as, sales conversion.

Lastly, this role includes a lot of testing, specifically A/B split testing; we test all of our projects and optimize them to create the best possible product and give our customers the best value out there.

How long have you been with Mindable?

I have been with Mindable since February 2017.

Why did you decide to join the Mindable Team?

I am originally from Nova Scotia, and have only been in Edmonton for 3.5 years. During that time I was searching for a company which had a culture that would allow me to be myself; not only be myself but embrace me for who I am… my flaws, quirks, and expertise.

Furthermore, I have always loved trying to understand people… and having a background in Psychology and Public Relations had led me to work in traditional Marketing for about 7 years. I was getting bored of traditional mass media marketing, and wanted to find something that would help me grow and challenge me in my career, which led me to Mindable.

The work that we do here is incomparable to anywhere else; you don’t get taught this shit in school.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I feel very privileged to be a Digital Marketing Specialist for Mindable as my role allows me to work closely with every member of our team.

In your personal opinion, what makes Mindable and coming to work so great?

The team is what makes this company so great. Our culture is one that you don’t find in many other companies, if any at all. We are constantly being challenged every day to do the “undoable” yet, we are also encouraged to take risks and make mistakes.

Essentially, Mindable allows us to become better versions of ourselves. This place is my home away from home and the team is more like a family.

What do you do in your spare time?

When I am not working you can find me playing basketball, cooking or baking in my kitchen, going to the gym, or spending time with my friends, and hanging out with my boyfriend and our two cats; one of whom is kinda famous and is featured with me on the Mindable website! You should follow her instagram (@myshelterkitty). Do it.

What is one thing your coworkers don’t know about you?

Honestly, there’s not much they don’t know; I am a pretty open book! If I was to think of anything it would probably be that I can rap every word to Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” and Eminem’s “Without Me” …also sometimes I like to write poetry.

What is your favorite book?

Other than in when I was in school, I have not done as much reading as I have done while working with Mindable. This company makes you want to always self-improve; after all, self-improvement and personal transformation is what we live by!

Therefore, my favorite book(s) have to be, The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck by Mark Manson or Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. Apparently, I like author alliteration!

What is your favorite quote you live by?

This may be the most cliche answer ever but, “everything happens for a reason.”
